Why We Love Mike Swift's For The Love of HipHop Mindset

For sure, everybody knows who Mike Swift is. Mr. Pinoyhoops has made his mark not only in the HipHop Scene but as well as with his philanthropic acts of goodness as he spearheaded helping The Tenement.  Apart from what we know about him, we were given the chance of working with him in one of our DIY gigs in Kalibo. He was also with us in our Luzon leg for Antolohiya ni Aklas. Check out how Mike became our favorite guest!

AKLAS and Mike Swift first worked with each other during Sunugan's Aklas vs. Krayzis. The connection did not end there after several battles from this league were given to AKLAS. Among others were Aklas vs. Apekz, Aklas vs. Badang, Aklas vs. Righetous One and the recent was Aklas vs. YoLove.

The two shared the same thoughts on positivism and the manner of never stop believing until you finally reach your goals. At first, we were hesitant not knowing if we can afford Mike's talent fee for a show in Kalibo. Our projects are all DIYs and of course, the expenses were drawn out of our pockets and from those who'd like to share one or two. However, I was surprised when Philip told me Mike does it for the love of HipHop, he will do a show with us, do not worry.

So on went our show which was tied up with JP's gig, a local Kalibo Emcee known for his support to the local scene. Mike flew to Kalibo together with Miko Regalado, a Bacolod-grown Emcee. They performed together with Aklas, Eli and 426 who was with us through our long, super long drive, from Iloilo to Kalibo. After everyone got in Kalibo, we enjoyed dinner at Gecko's Restaurant Bar owned by Al Lean Arcenio and was the good friend of Emcee Batang X's. The show was a success. We got our own sponsored rooms, thanks to Atty. Keifer Arguelles and his entire household who hosted us for 3 nights and our Kalibo roadie, Kuya Ladz, who drove with us during our stay.

Now, why is Mike Swift our favorite guest to contact?

His initiative and support to what we do is beyond words. He would go out of his way and would do it for the love of doing it, not minding the fees, very professional and not a word of complain-- just plain fun! How many artists do you know would actually perform because he loves to? Not because he sees the big paycheck? As of now, I only know about four, Mike, Klumcee, Shanti Dope (we'd be working with them this December) and Aklas.

Now here's what not everyone knew about, as we went to book a room at Zaiden Pension House,  the owner may have wanted Mike to do a song but apparently she didn't want to initiate any offer. However, Mike knew it by instinct and started rendering an on the spot free show.
