Bringing A New Breath of Ragga Music

Tonight, I was able to sit down and speak with some of the musical geniuses of our generation. I spoke with Audio Rebel and Rastardee about recent project that both of them collaborated. This is still a part of their experimental project  under Audio Rebel Pilipinas. Both have pledge releasing monthly singles for us to enjoy.

Talking to both of them has been a great privilege and was very educating. I couldn't be more thankful because at that time they were able to add up to what I've known before just simply dub music.

RastardeeRastardee kicked started the conversation explaining what Dub Music is about. He pointed out that BPM or beats per minute plays in important part in creating this type of sound. It highly involves reggae and is mostly instrumental. Also added that the feeling of the engineer or the producer is the main key of how Dub Music works plus the lyrics to the song, of course.

Meanwhile, Audio Rebel specifically stated that BPM is actually how fast or slow a song can be. For instance, a typical 60 BPM rythm can be made lengthier by adding effects, echo, and more depending on how the producer wants to convey his feelings.

Aside from learning some technicalities by speaking to them both, I was pretty much interested about the Audio Rebel Sound System release. Rastardee and Audio Rebel were both in high spirits when they highlighted that this collaborative project is a new discovery for them wherein the verses were made first rather than the sound.

This is a new approach as I know, an emcee usually gets the beat or the sound first before writing his or her verses. I suppose that only a few can actually write verses freely without having a specific rythm to accompany it upon writing. More so on the side of the producer who has full authority towards the command of the sound to be used on the acapella. So, is it safe to say that only the best can do this? *evil grin*

Rastardee, whose style involves TagaRagga--the sole artist doing this in PI-- told me in gist the catch of the verses he wrote for Audio Rebel Sound System. In the first verse, he took pride educating how to loosen one's feelings followed by the second verse wherein he wrote about one love or simply for the love of what you are doing. This project is a mixture of genres, involving reggae, rythm and song.

When I asked Audio Rebel about notable projects he has done in the past, he answered humbly,

"One of my notable project is Album of Demarco - Cigarette drama and Kintab Talas album - Kartero... oo nga pala yung isang pinaka di ko makakalimutang project na kasama si rastardee ay yung binigyan nya ako ng acapella na parang nag dadasal ng ritual...then nilagyan ko ng mala horror cinematic score 🙂 I dont think na may makikinig sa gawa namin. inabot ng 9mins yung buong track."

Watch Audio Rebel System below and leave out comments. Don't forget to share it publicly and spread the love for music and the Arts.
