AKLAS: The 052 Experience!

Travelling to another country is one great experience! What more if you are travelling not only to spend leisure time but to do something you've always loved doing--- RAP BATTLE!

The experience handed down to us by 052 Rap Battles has been one of a kind. It all started with a crazy plan to pursue further Hip-Hop movement. This time, taking it in a different country. The invitation was set, all documents were ready, the venue, the spot, the people! Nagoya, Japan here we go!

052 Rap Battles was founded in 2016 by Toneloker and Double D in Nagoya, Japan. The two aimed to gather and unite the Filipino Hip-Hop community in the country and to strengthen awareness for those who are not into the game. 

The debut stint of 052 was held February 26, 2017 where Filipino-Japanese Emcees performed their rap battle skills. The two took on a different angle when they invited AKLAS to come up on stage and battle with their homegrown emcee KAZU last May 7, 2017 for the main event for the "052 Rap Battles Presents: Saishowagu" which turned out a huge success.

I had a chance to chit-chat with Toneloker and asked his insights on how he sees Hip-Hop community in Japan. Undeniably, he thinks that Filipinos and Japanese descendants alike are not that supportive probably because of lack of awareness that this growing community is in existence. That is why more events, bigger ones, are brewing!
